FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHAT IS MY $1000 DEPOSIT PER BUS USED FOR?

    Your $1000 deposit is used to secure your booking for both the accommodation provider and the bus company. Your deposit also acts as a damage deposit against any bus or accommodation charges that may arise. We reserve the right to use this $1000 against these costs if these situations arise. Hence, make sure to communicate to your group to take good care of the hotel you are staying in and the bus you are riding on.

  • WILL I GET MY DEPOSIT BACK? IF SO, WHEN?

    This is a Refundable Deposit! You will get your deposit back within fourteen (14) days of the completion of your group ski trip provided there are no bus or accommodation damages. Backside will endeavor to settle and reconcile your group ski trip within one calendar week of your trip's end. Why does it take fourteen (14) days? We have to follow up with our hotel and bus partners to ensure there were no damages. If we can settle up more quickly, we sure will!  Should your trip get canceled your deposit will be held and can be transferred to a future trip.  If this deposit is not used on a future trip within 18 months then, at that time you will forfeit the deposit. 

  • WHAT IS THE EMPTY SEAT CHARGE ALL ABOUT?

    We pay for each seat on the bus, moreover, we contract you to pay for the contracted amount of people in your group. Hence, we spread the cost across your group, thus, larger contracted sizes = cheaper rates. Empty seat charges are necessary if you fall short of your numbers.

  • WHAT IF SOMEONE BACKS OUT AND WANTS TO CANCEL THEIR TRIP?

    This does happen. What we ask is that anyone who wants to cancel their group ski trip must do so through you. This way, we can ensure you know someone has backed out. When someone cancels 31 days or more from the trip date they are subject to a $50 administrative fee. However, if they choose to cancel and not find a replacement, they will NOT receive a refund at or under the 30-day mark. If a replacement can be found for the cancelled traveler there subject to a $100 administrative fee. Replacements are not accepted within 7 days of departure. We recommend to all our organizers to ensure their crew knows the above info to both protect yourself and Backside.

  • WHAT IF I AM HAVING A HARD TIME SELLING SPOTS ON MY TRIP? CAN I CANCEL?

    Make sure to review the "How To Sell Your Group Ski Trip" page as part of this package. We want to work with you to ensure your group ski trip planning and execution is successful. The best way to make this happen is to work with your account manager and get help from those people coming on your group ski trip with you! However, if you are unable to fulfill your contractual obligations, we can cancel your group ski trip outside the 45-day mark. All of your patrons who have signed up will be moved to our Weekend Trip option on the same weekend so they still get a group ski trip. From there, they can decide to go on the allocated weekend trip, take a credit to ride with us again, or request a refund, which will result in a $100 admin fee. Your initial $1000 deposit will remain with us and will be held in trust for 18 months for you to use toward a group ski trip later in the same season or the next season. If this deposit is not used in that period, it will no longer be valid nor refundable

  • DOES BACKSIDE OFFER RENTALS?

    Backside Tours has partners that we refer to our patrons. In Edmonton, we work with Out of Bounds Ski and Snowboard (downstairs from our office) for rentals. On Hill rental options are also available.  Backside does not coordinate these rentals but we will gladly point your patrons in the right direction to get set up. Ask your account manager for details.

  • WHAT ABOUT THE USE OF PULLOUT COUCHES?

    Most normal hotel rooms don’t have pullout couches and normally contain two queen or double beds. In condos, however, Backside often prices the condo rooms based on max occupancy, meaning the use of pullout couches. For example, if a room has two queen beds (4 people) and a queen pullout (2 people), the room sleeps up to 6 at max occupancy. For the best prices, max occupancy is the way to go. However, if you wish to get pricing without the use of pullout couches, please ask your Backside account manager for details.
